High Stakes Poker…

I love this clip. It’s so sick that these guys are playing for hundred’s of thousands of dollars in live money and just having casual chats about “Blow” and the fish in the fish tank swimming behind them haha…What’s even sicker is the call that Antonius made. I truly am gaining more and more respect for him as a player every day…In my opinion PA is deff in the top 3 of poker players around the world…

Horrible Luck…

So after last night I’ve decided not to play for the remainder of April and hopefully return to some better cards in May. I went by the casino to play cash games last night again and was doing ok for the most part. Then the dreaded Hold’em hand came. I was sitting in small blind and got dealt KdQd so threw in a small raise since no-one else raise before me. Got called by two people and flop came out Ad10d8d. Having flopped the nut flush and a royal flush draw I felt I was in great position to take this pot down so decided to slow play it a bit, I checked and got the action which I wanted. Player after me bet a hefty amount and the player behind him went all-in. I knew that I was up against a set of some sort and maybe a straight in the other mans hand. I obviously called and so did the other player. when cards were flipped one had a set of Queen’s and the other player went all-in with 3d5d…
I was feeling great and hooping that the board wont pair and ill take down the pot then the turn and river came out 2d and 4d!!! Are you kidding me like??? I was like a 95% favorite to take that pot down after the turn and I loose to a runner runner low straight flush. Obviously I was a bit upset so I decided to take of the rest of April, get my composure back and return with a vengeance. It’s not that I have been playing bad that is why I’m not really stressing too much about it, just the other players have been getting way too lucky against me these past 2 weeks. So hopefully this nonsense blows over and May will be a good month. Instead of a complete rest I decided to test the water in another field: sports betting.  I found a very reliable interactive gaming site for the best sports betting on the net.  It became a good month after all.

Having Some Fun at the Final Table…

Went to play in a small freeze-out tourney yesterday after a long weekend. The whole game was kinda blah, didn’t pick up on any big hands and just stacked up some chips through good play and big bluffs. It was only a 28 person tourney so went by pretty quick. In about 3 hours it was down to 8 people at the final table. Average stack were about 7000 and I had 1800 in chips. To be honest I just got bored and started playing the final table like if I was playing online poker. I must have went all-in about 12 times in a row and I’m not exaggerating…By the time my all-in barrage has ended I had 7800 in chips, all coming from picking up the blinds. Some of the guys got very aggravated as others which were more experienced players at the table kinda knew what I was doing, they just didn’t have reasonable hands to call with.
After skipping a couple of hands I picked up pocket 10’s and went all-in again and got a call from A,10…No Ace came out and that was the first person out from the final table. Having close to 13,000 in chips in front of me now and some breathing room I took out 4 more people in the next 30minutes and once it came down to head’s up play me and the other guy just split it. Must say it was the first time I played that loose at a final table but it was very entertaining. Loved getting under peoples skin with those moves but at the end they did it to themselves. Had they not been playing that tight I would have probably been the 8th person out, glad it worked out the way it did thoe :)

Tilt….

So played in a tourney of 47 last night. It was unlimited re-buys for the first hour with a double add on option before the 1st break. The starting chip stack was 1000 and by the time the break came around I had about 3400 without having to do any re-buys and got the double add on which brough my stack to 5400 while the average was around 3k…As the tournament progressed I played well and by the time there were 19 of us left I had about 14k in chips with the average being about 8k. Then I stopped getting playable hands and with the blinds being quite large already they started depleting my stack. It was time to make a move!!!
I was in small blind at the 600/1200 level, with A10 suited and everyone folded so I raised to 3600. The big blind went all-in 4000 so obviously I called. He flipped over QJ so I wasn’t worried about it. Of course this time around on the river a Q came out and he ended up taking the pot. I dont care if 3 Queen’s came out on the flop, it would actually be pretty cool but I have when I get beat by the river card. My stack being 10000 now and me being pissed next hand I went all-in with pocket 5’s. Ironically the same player had JJ and ended up winning which put me down to 2000 in chips and at that point my chances were quite slim to make it to the final table which was set to be 9 people. I ended up getting eliminated in 10th place and I feel that it was my own fault as I shouldn’t have pushed all-in on a pair of 5’s as I was on the button and had a chance to see a few free hands while the button was moving around the table and having 10000 I was still in pretty good position. That river card and being on tilt is a bitch isn’t it…..lol

Key Poker Skills – Bluffing

Everyone who plays poker has heard of bluffing. Some players think of themselves as great bluffers, while others are sure that the slightest glance at the pot is enough to give them away. Either way, there are some bluffing basics to consider.

Bluffing in Poker: Tell a Good Story

If you have been checking the whole way and then suddenly throw in a large bet on the river when it is checked to you, you should not be surprised if you get called. The best bluffs are set up with play throughout the hand. If you bet on every street, a big river bluff is more likely to work than if you wait for the end.

On the other hand, if you’ve check called with two spades on the flop and another spade comes on the river, you may have a good bluffing opportunity, since many players will simply call along and try to hit their flush as cheaply as possible.

Bluffing in Poker: Set Up a Good Image

If you’ve been taking a shot at pot after pot all day long, your bluff is not likely to get the respect it deserves. On the other hand, if you’ve been playing quietly for an hour and always showing down big hands, it is much more likely that your opponents will give you credit for a monster when you bet big.

Bluffing in Poker: General Rules

In general, it’s important to remember that a bluff, like anything else in poker, should be done with forethought. Base all your actions, including bluffing, on your observations of the players at the table and the texture of the game and your chances of success will raise.
